The Spartans faced an uphill battle to begin with, traveling to the school of the Fox Valley Association’s #1 ranked boys’ basketball team. And while they scored more points than the Rockets in the second half, the game nevertheless ended in an 81-67 victory for the Rockets, with increased spectator attendance resulting in minor parking difficulties.
“It was a good game. We covered the spread, Sam Coulthard had a big game, with eight 3-pointers, Cal Klesmit had 20. That’s every day for him,” player #20, Ethan Van Dyke, a junior said.
The halftime show honored Neenah Basketball alumni who attended, spanning 45 years of the program’s existence.
“It’s a great team. We’ve got a lot of shooters out there, #3 Sam (Coulthard) got 27 points tonight, I’m disappointed he couldn’t get 30. I think they played a great game tonight, they’ve just got to improve on that game by game,” commented Jacob Kaszuba, a 2020 graduate.
