Diversity Fair: New Schedule Offers an Opportunity to Play
NHS will hold its 16th annual Diversity Fair on Friday, April 21 in the field house.
This year’s schedule of events is unique. The assembly is set for third mod. Booths showcasing school clubs, hobbies and food will be available for browsing fourth and fifth mod. Improv will host in the lobby of Pickard.
The notable difference from past years to the current is the edition of “play.” Opportunities to play games and relax from daunting schoolwork will be available to students at the fair sixth mod. “Play like a Champion” is being further engrained into NHS for current and future classes. Gerald Rott, sophomore, believes that sixth mod is capable of unifying students and bringing together people who would not otherwise speak.
A poll conducted on the Satellite confirms that Minute to Win It games are most anticipated to appear at the fair, followed by Four Square and Spoons. “If there are games I consider fun, I’ll be into it,” Kristen Opiela, junior, said in response to hearing the schedule. Opiela hopes to see Hide and Seek at the fair.
With every student having different tastes, a wide array of activities will take place. For example, students can take salsa dancing lessons from Latino Club, play Kahoot with French Club or sing karaoke thanks to Heart Club. Students can head outside for frisbee and other “lawn” games if weather permits.
NHS hopes to promote a sense of community at the Diversity Fair and challenge the record of the largest gathering of people wearing tie dye. The record is currently set at 1,500 people by Business Professionals of America. Tie dye shirts will be sold outside room 134 before and after school with proceeds going toward the Orbit.
