Salutes and Slams: Week of Oct. 11

The Neenah Satellite continues to deliver opinions straight from students.

Salutes:

  • Laurie Halse Anderson’s talk at the Neenah Public Library inspired NHS students.
  • Many students are raising money for various organizations, such as Crush can sales supporting Free Little Libraries and fifth mod classes collecting money for hurricane relief.
  • Volunteer opportunities spring up as autumn progresses. To volunteer at the Helping Hands Craft Fair, visit http://signup.com/go/GLJLdbN

Slams:

  • Numerous students skipped Anderson’s talk in favor of staying in class.
  • Anxiety levels run high for students who miss a mod. or full day of school.
  • Modified communication caused confusion for students taking the PSAT. Many did not report to the correct testing room.
