“Without the people that surround me now, I would not be as confident as I am in my abilities. Especially when I was going into high school, I didn’t have a great group of people around me. They dragged me down as they were dragging themselves down and made me feel worse about myself. Once I regrouped and found the correct people for me, they encouraged all the things that I was doing. I feel like I was able to join and participate in things that I probably wouldn’t have done by myself or with other groups of people. They’ve been encouraging me at my best, but also picking me up when I’m at my worst.” — Elise Hendrickson, class of 2025
