Winterfest activities start Monday, Feb. 5 for NHS students and staff.
Sophie Buel, representative for Sources of Strength, gave a rundown of how planning is going for Winterfest activities and what their main focuses were when planning.
“I think Winterfest has a really good focus on sources of strength, as every event is connected to a part of the wheel. Sports games are about physical health, the activities such as ultimate friends and copy paste (twin day without forcing it to be only two people) are great examples of positive friends. I think that it’s well organized this year so far,“ Buel said.
Monday, Feb.5 starts Winterfest activities with the sources of strength wheel section mental health. The dress-up for Monday will be pajamas, so get cozy! After school the French Club will be hosting sledding at Memorial Park for all students. Crush Can sales will be starting at lunch on Monday and are $1 per can.
Tuesday, Feb. 6 is focusing on healthy friendships on the SOS wheel. Copy and Paste/Twin Day is the theme, so dress up with friends in the same outfit! During STAR, students can sign-up to play the Ultimate Best Friends Quiz. The NHS Blood Drive will be held for students interested. A school wide Rock, Paper or Scissors Tournament will happen. Lastly, the girls’ basketball game is going to be home against Appleton West, and it is Senior Night.
Wednesday, Feb. 7 is focusing on mentors on the SOS wheel. The dress up is throwback to any decade of choice. Trivia Night is hosted by the Student Government Association, and they have a sign-up that will be due on Feb. 6 at 11:59 p.m. Last day for Crush Can sales during lunch, and they will be delivered on Feb. 14 during Champion.
Thursday, Feb. 8 is focusing on choosing a strength from sources of strengths color wheel. A pep assembly will also be held.
Friday, Feb. 9 is focusing on spirituality. Tropical Day is the dress-up theme. A boys’ basketball game vs. Hortonville is themed: formal at 7:30 p.m.
The Winterfest dance will be held in the atrium on Saturday, Feb. 10 starting at 8 p.m. The doors will be closed at 9:30 p.m. for students wanting to enter the dance. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on GOFAN and have to be purchased by Friday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. Guest passes are available in the Main Office and are due Thursday, Feb. 1.
The theme this year is on Van Gogh’s art piece called “A Starry Night.”
