On September 26th 2025, the previously 4-1 Neenah Rockets celebrated their 29-27 win over the 4-1 Appleton North Lightning to kickoff the start of homecoming weekend.
These two teams were evenly matched, as was the game itself. After trailing the Lightning 15-20 at the half and observing issues with their passing game, Neenah knew it was time to make some adjustments. Coming into the second half, Neenah became more focused on getting it done on the ground.
The Rockets came out of half time with a bang to start the third quarter. A 36-yard punt return for a touchdown by junior Cooper Sieck shifted the momentum of the game and the morale of the players. In the second half, they dominated the running game with junior quarterback Ashton VanBeek rushing for three touchdowns to deliver the defeat to Appleton North.
This victory over Appleton North brings the Rockets to an overall record of 5-1, putting them in a perfect place to compete with the other FVA teams and sets up a compelling matchup between The Rockets and the Kimberly Papermakers, Friday October 3rd. The winner of this impending matchup will receive a title of the leading team in the FVA conference.
