Neenah blasts past opponents in fall athletics.
The Neenah Rockets girls’ cross country team went to state for the 10th season in a row. They finished 16th out of 20 teams at state, which was held in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rockets were led by senior Ellen Knaus, who took 76th place individually.
The Neenah girls’ swimming and diving team earned its 7th consecutive FVA conference championship. Junior Hazel Hertting set the school and conference record in diving with a score of 601.80, which is more than 100 points better than the previous FVA record.
The Rockets girls’ tennis team finished the season with a record of 17-1 overall and a runner-up finish at state. The number three doubles team of freshman Hannah Dorsey and junior Andrea Galloway had an undefeated season with a record of 31-0.
Neenah football had a heartbreaking end to its promising season with a loss to Wausau West in the first round of the WIAA playoffs with a score of 30-26. This was the Rockets first playoff appearance since 2006.
Girls’ volleyball finished the year with an overall record of 33-11. The Rockets’ season ended in a nail biting sectional semifinal loss to West Bend East. This was the 3rd consecutive meeting between the Rockets and West Bend East in sectionals.
