Satellite Selects New Editor-in-Chief
People strive to be the best of the best in their field; for Satellite reporters Charley Hrobsky’s position is the goal.
Hrobsky became the Satellite’s editor-in-chief at the end of her junior year after working with the Satellite since sophomore year. She was so honored and excited when Satellite adviser, Mrs. Beth Plankey, asked her to be the new editor- in-chief replacing Maddie Terlap, who graduated this past year.
Plankey explained that her selection of Hrobsky was based on her ability to demonstrate key journalistic skills of news judgement, interviewing and style. “Charley is perfect for this position of leadership because her vision of the Satellite engages modern readers.”
Before coming to the Satellite, Hrobsky had taken creative writing and has always loved reading. Hrobsky shared that in first grade she had to be banned from writing labs because she did so many there were not any left for the other students.
When she began writing for the Satellite sophomore year, Hrobsky had been writing book reviews and eventually moved up to writing articles. She hopes in her new position that she will have the opportunity to write a column and connect the students to the paper by accurately informing them on what is happening in the school.
She plans on expanding Satellite out to the students on new platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Hrobsky wants the students to realize that the Satellite is a fun place and the reporters cares about the students and the quality of news they are producing.
After high school she plans on attending Lakeland College, pursuing a major in Education and possibly a minor in English.
