Art Students Awarded at Bergstrom-Mahler Museum
The Bergsrom-Mahler Museum hosted the Fox Valley Area High School Glass Exhibition on Saturday, March 4.
Eight different awards were given at the artist reception on Sunday, including two NHS art students who were victors. Allison Koopman, senior, won the Glass Education Award for her piece “The Book Nook.” Senior Jonathan Orth won the Road America Teen Drive Experience Award for his piece “House.”
Overall, 232 students from 15 different Fox Valley high schools exhibited their glass work.

I thought this article was interesting. Although short, I think that it was cool to see the awards that students at NHS have received. This is really cool to see how students are able to be recognized and on that note, I would like to have known a little more about what these awards meant and what the students exactly had to do to receive these awards.

I liked this article because I’ve always been a believer in local art, as well as art in general. It’s inspiring to see high school students putting themselves out there and sharing their art for everyone to see; perhaps that is the most civic activity of all! However, I do agree that a more in depth article would serve the students well given that I still don’t know much about the event or what awards they were granted.

It’s good to know that Neenah students are getting out there. However, I would’ve like to know a bit more about both the awards and the projects that won them.

Our local artists are very underappreciated, and I think this article/ exhibit exposes them in a positive light. Expression and passion are qualities that are back on the rise in popular culture. Keep making art!

I think it’s cool that NHS has art students that are winning awards for their work at a major local museum. I didn’t know that Neenah had such talented students. There is some passive voice and minor grammatical mistakes, but otherwise the article effectively utilizes effective language to educate the reader about the awards received by these art students.

This is a good article, but I feel that it could be elaborated on further. I don’t know what the awards are for, or what they mean. I believe that a longer article could do this justice.
