Wednesday. Just before dawn. Gregg Goers wanders past the fenceline of a campground near the Grand Canyon. He continues toward the mouth of the canyon and seats himself, watching the sunrise in solitude with his feet hanging a mile above the ground. To him, this exercise tests the boundaries of his own mind.

With an intense fear of heights, he begins each morning of his five-day summer vacation with a churning stomach, attempting to conquer those fears — to make himself comfortable being uncomfortable.

That mentality is something he carries with him in his everyday life, leaving bits of wisdom with everyone he encounters. To most, he is  another person going about his day. But what most do not see is a man that does things on his own terms.

He takes risks.

A man that takes on the education system head on because he believes that it’s time for a change.

A man that dines with internationally recognized figures from various parts of the world.

A man who knows:  “There will be weather,” in life and chooses to embrace it.

A man that truly lives.

What can be seen by all, however, is that Gregg Goers is a kind-hearted and genuine person who is passionate about making a difference, even if it means bending the rules a little bit to make things more interesting or impactful.

Whether it be through his career as an educator at NHS or through his natural desire to better himself or those around him, he has made it a priority to brand himself as an adventurer, a professional, and an all-around original and relatable human being.
