Call Of Duty Modern Warfare, a modern first-person shooter video game that simulates the infantry and combined arms of world war, was released (Oct 24) recently.

Modern Warfare is the 16th game installed in the Call Of Duty series. The game features three modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Special Ops. Campaign mode follows a storyline where you combat Russian forces that have invaded the country. Multiplayer is a 6 vs. 6 mode that allows you to play with and face other online players on multiple different maps. Special Ops mode features cooperative missions that follow up the Campaign storyline.

Several new features users are pleased with are a new game engine, cross platform compatibility, better multiplayer maps and the return of Spec Ops mode. Compared with any other first-person shooter game, Modern Warfare has sold the most launch and pre order units ever. In addition to these impressive numbers, Modern Warfare has more than doubled the box office opening of Joker (the most profitable comic book movie ever).

Public controversy surrounds some new scenes as this game is the first since MW2 to include gritty/controversial moments. Some examples are the use of chemical weapons, shooting civilians and use of white phosphorus. Media is upset because of many false depictions of the real-life “Highway of Death incident.” While these are all valid reasons for a negative opinion on the game, it only adds to Modern Warfare popularity.

With the holiday season right around the corner you can find Call Of Duty at Walmart, Target and Gamestop. Modern Warfare is sure to be a Christmas list favorite, grab it while you can!
