It is a weekend night after 10, teenagers’ endless appetites are raging. Going back and forth for what feels like forever, finding the best place to eat can be much harder than it should be. Below are the best three places to fulfill teenagers’ endless appetites after 10 p.m.

When eating at a restaurant there are many more things that matter besides the food. Other factors such as location, price, atmosphere, cleanliness and service. According to bonappetit.com service can be as important as food quality, having wait staff with an open mind to tackle mistakes when they happen and able to entertain all personalities. Along with this, many teenagers after 10 p.m. order appetizers, originating from the 14th – 17th-century renaissance 158main.com say these small meals were served to prepare the digestive system for the main course to be properly digested. Today the amount of people that look to order appetizers for this reason is most likely slim to none, instead many teenagers choose these small meals because of the reduced price, looking to soften the hit on their bank account. To rate these restaurants a scale-out of 10 was used to rank 4 qualities, cleanliness, music, food, wait staff services, and lastly including an overall restaurant rating.

Denny’s

Approximately 13 miles away from NHS Denny’s is a quick nine-minute drive. Upon entering one of the most noticeable things is the background music, an overall 6/10, senior Josh Brazee a regular weekend visitor explains saying, “It is usually a hit or miss, sometimes today’s hits, other days ‘80 soft rock.” Being seated with no wait time, the menu is the next concern. A wide range of food from breakfast to salads or burgers is available, although to be noted is their focus on breakfast items available at any time of the day. Most late-night teenagers will find themselves spending an average of $6. After receiving one’s food, taste and quality are impressively good, rating 7/10. Finally, waiter services are always a priority, bringing drinks, the bill, and any other requested item always as soon as possible a high rating 8/10 is deserved. Visiting Denny’s is definitely no letdown, with clean modern bathrooms, clean tabletops, and a friendly environment, Denny’s overall restaurant quilty rating is a proud 7.5/10, making it a great stop for any highschooler searching for a late-night meal.

Sal’s Pizza:

A 16-minute drive on an 11-mile trip from NHS, Sal’s Pizza is another great place to eat late at night. From salsappelton.com their restaurant received the Golden Fork Award in 2013 presented by the Fox Cities Magazine for the best non-chain late-night dining. Located on College Avenue downtown Appleton, this restaurant holds a great city feel to it with today’s pop and hip-hop music always playing late-night, undoubtedly ranking a 10/10. Senior Max Klesmit mentions, “No matter my mood the music in Sal’s is always on the up and up, nothing slow or old, I too often catch my self singing aloud.” The menu is a bit slimmer, focusing on mostly pizza but does include salads, calzones, and subs as well; however, if ordering pizza you have whatever types to choose from that are out on display. Paying an average of $5 for a meal and receiving one’s food within minutes of ordering and the taste is beyond belief, almost as it came from downtown Chicago. With this earned is a food rating of 6/10, seemingly low this is held down because of the smaller menu availability. Restaurant cleanliness is not anything to brag about with older style bathrooms and the constant smell of pizza, a 6/10 rating is quite respectable. Although their unforgettable polite staff and quick service; similar to ordering at Subway, keeps their wait service ranking high at an 8/10. Afterall Sal’s is a great place to eat for anybody at any time, especially if you like pizza; however, after 10 Sal’s becomes a one of a kind restaurant like none other, ranking overall 8/10.

Applebee’s:

Being just a four-minute drive and even walkable 1.2 miles Applebee’s is around the corner from NHS. The atmosphere while in the restaurant is not anything crazy; however, it offers a wide range of music from country to pop and hip-hop the music rating is 8/10. Unfortunately, being seated is usually where most time is spent, especially after 10 p.m. Wait staff do not always seem to be the most helpful; some could use a better attitude while on the job — bringing in a lower ranking of 5/10. Once looking to order the food menu is the biggest of these three restaurants including bar food, as well as sit down meals available. Most visitors after 10 p.m. will find themselves paying an average of $8 and be satisfied with the average taste of their food ranking 7/10. Although one noticeable part concerning food is the wait time, being quite longer than Denny’s and Sal’s. On the flip side, the cleanliness of the restaurant is the best, ranking 8/10 the bathrooms are modern and tables kept clean for new customers. With good tasting food and a quick trip to arrive an overall ranking of 8/10 is deserved, despite the few areas in need of improvement.

After visiting these three restaurants and completing the reviews, seeing where each restaurant shines and where improvements could be made was made quite easy. Next time when deciding where to eat considering these factors will hopefully help make one’s decision much easier. If it were up to me, I would surely choose Sal’s Pizza, with reputable awards quality and great tasting food is assured. Not just this but the comfortable and loose environment for teenagers and younger generations after 10 p.m. brings a truly welcoming feeling.
