Fall Frights: The Burial Chamber
The autumn season is here, and what better way to celebrate than going to a haunted house with friends and family! The Burial Chamber is a 4.5 star haunted house complex located on 500 N Lake St in Neenah. They open every fall on Fridays and Saturdays. The box office hours normally range from 6:45PM to 11PM, but the complex closes officially once the lines are empty. It is recommended however that customers show up in a timely manner for the sake of staff. These events are NOT recommended for individuals who require mobility aids, are prone to seizures, and/or have claustrophobia.
This haunted house complex is notorious in the Fox cities for giving its guests a good time! From someone who has attended several times, each visit provides a unique and exciting experience every season. They’re always looking for ways to improve the experience for community members. When interviewed “Why do you keep coming back?”, a community member simply stated that they go to support their friends in the cast–along with the nostalgia that comes from childhood horror movie binges. If any second opinions are desired, check out their reviews page!
When you arrive at the grounds, they have a main lot in the front, and smaller lots towards the back, however, those fill up very quickly. It is strongly encouraged by the owners to carpool or be dropped off and picked up from the event.
All events are based on a first come first serve basis unless upgraded to a quickpass. Before partaking in an event you must wait in a queue. The quickpass allows for a shortcut in the lines. They are beneficial if you want to partake in multiple events while conserving time since it cuts the wait time tremendously!
While waiting in line for an event, you can get a bite at the food truck on sight. The truck serves a variety of beverages and snack items, however, food and drink are not permitted during the attractions. Some items sold include water, hot cider, soda, energy drinks, candy, churros, pretzels, and more. The number of events purchased apply for any event except for Hunt which is a separate event. They take both cash and card as acceptable payments. You can purchase tickets online or in person at their box office. Below are the listed prices:
The Burial Chamber hosts a total of four fear-inducing events–all different in their own ways. Three of the four scare events include actors that can appear almost anywhere during. All scare events last an estimated 20 minutes. Phone use is not permitted during any event, however, photo ops are available with the actors as they roam the grounds. It is recommended to wear old warm clothing along with close-toed shoes. This is because the grounds are pretty dusty, the lines are outdoors, and events may result in contact with walls and props. Additionally, customers are forbidden to make physical contact with any of the actors. Failure to comply may result in police involvement.
Adrenaline: Adrenaline is an indoor attraction that is meant to confuse your senses and make your heart pound. This event includes (but is not limited to) lasers, strobes, loud noises, water mist, fog, animatronics, etc. If you’re looking to jump at every turn then this is the attraction for you!
Insanity: Insanity is an indoor attraction similar to Adrenaline–but takes a more interactive approach. This event is almost like a funhouse maze complete with (but not limited to) clowns, crooked rooms, fog, dark hallways, loud noises, flashing lights, etc.
Phobia: Phobia is the only outdoor attraction The Burial Chamber has to offer. This attraction takes place in a wooded area and requires interaction with elements to proceed. Loud noises including chainsaw wielders along with the dark surroundings make for a thrilling experience.
Buried Alive: This attraction is definitely not for the claustrophobic as it’s almost exactly like the title states. This event allows for customers to go through a burial simulator. During the simulator, people are put in groups and will be buried with around 80,000 germ-block, sanitized, plastic balls.
Hunt: Hunt is not a scary attraction, but more like an I-Spy game! Participants are required to search for specific items in a room that are projected on a screen. If you find a certain amount of items in the allotted time given then you can be awarded with prizes. One of these prizes is a free event pass!
Blackout Nights (November 1st and 2nd ONLY): Looking for an especially scary close to October? Well then look no further than Blackout Night! Blackout night serves as a wrap for the season. During this event, only Adrenaline is open, and it requires you to navigate through in pitch black. The only tool you are given is an LED candle to light your way. On these days, the box office closes one hour prior to the standard time.
