Photos: Cotton Club a Swinging Success
The NHS cafeteria was transformed into a 1920s themed night club modeled after Harlem’s famous Cotton Club on Saturday, Jan. 21. People of all ages came to enjoy a tasty meal accompanied by jazz music played by Neenah’s jazz bands. After dinner, pairs and groups wandered onto the dance floor to swing dance to popular jazz tunes such as “Route 66” by Bobby Troup, “Pennsylvania 6500” by Glenn Miller, and “Witchcraft” by Frank Sinatra. When the night concluded at 9 p.m., laughter resonated through the hallway as folks made their way out into the bitter January cold.

I agree with Beatrice, the headline is what drew me to this story. I liked the descriptive language such as “laughter resonated through the hallway” and “bitter January cold.”

I know this article is rather old, but I had to comment on the language. The use of “Swinging” in the title brought me to click on the article in the first place. The pun was just too great to pass up. That said, I do think there could have been a bit more description of the atmosphere of the event, as it’s so different from anything else NHS has to offer.
