The Man Behind the Title

Everyone at NHS knows him by his title: Activities Director (A.D.).

Not everyone, however, knows the person behind the title. Mr. Joshua Murnane grew up in East Troy, a small town of 4,000 people in southeast Wisconsin. He knew since middle school he wanted to be a teacher because of the impact his social studies teacher had on him.

He is happy with his new job.

Murnane, however, never thought of being an activities director.

“I like it; it just wasn’t part of the plan.”

It was August, and he was setting up his classroom getting ready to teach social studies in the next month. That was when the principal of Green Bay West told him they needed an A.D. Murnane decided to try it out and never thought he would be the A.D. there for 10 years.

Coming to Neenah was a change, and a positive one at that. He does not like how Green Bay is so big and has so many different schools. He enjoys that everyone goes to one high school and how involved the community gets when it comes to activities, such as the sporting events and the non-sporting events like the plays.

“I like how it’s one in the same.”

One change he has had trouble with is knowing all the students and staff. One day, he hopes he will get to know everyone and is always willing to meet new staff and students.
