Sources of Strength (SoS) is made up of students, such as senior Nina Duffeck, who teachers think are eager to make NHS a better place.

Most people who know senior Nina Duffeck describe her as dedicated and passionate about her schoolwork.  A main factor she attributes this to is her involvement in Sources of Strength, a new organization at NHS.

Nina joins SoS in the summer of 2017, and it makes a difference in her life.

“We are just starting out, but we plan on having more positive activities in the next month.”

For example, the club anticipates a high visibility at parent teacher conferences at the end of October.

Prior to NHS in 2012, Nina attends a small, private, religious school. While most people have a difficult time transitioning into a different school, Nina feels that the transition helps her become a better person, saying that it helps her accept different people and to better navigate life.

Clearly, embracing challenges and developing life skills allows Nina to thrive and to model her strengths in such public venues.

“It’s helped me realize that I have a voice.”
